Fallow

Just a question for those who have taken fallow with their dogs. What height and weight should the dog be roughly? I have found a place close to me thats heaving with them! The only problem is neither I or my dog have any experience with deer and fallow is the only species around. I think hes probably not big enough, hes 25 inches but only about 55 pounds.

doesnt matter to much,aslong as its not really small,no one except the dog will be able to tell you if its capable of pulling a fallow,they are pretty strong tho,especially the big stags

ive only had one but ive seen dogs dragged along with fallow 2 dogs better

nothings better with 2 dogs its too messey,if your dog cant do it on its own then dont run them on stuff

Quite right brock, only one dog is needed for fallow. I used to run a wheaton greyhound bitch 21 1/2 inches and 40 odd pound. She pulled fallow hinds on numerous occasions. Fallow bucks are a different proposition,but a dog of 25 in with plenty of balls should have no trouble.

Yes mate she did have trouble, but most of the time she kept hold. Pre ban she took quite a few, she once pulled 3 hinds in a night. She was a game little fecker, incidentally i once witnessed a 23 in whippetxgreyhound pull a red hind single handed.

whats the problem with running two dogs on fallow

 

ive not got a problem with it and i supose you lads have never done it

Look lads, sorry to disappoint you lot but i am not in the habit of telling porkys. And i wont be drawn into yes i did, no i never shit. So you either believe it or you dont, incidentally the red hind was pulled while we were out with a well known traveller from caithness(breeds deerhound x's). So

Just because you have never seen something, dont mean it cant be done........I know of a beddy x that has pulled and held Munty bucks and that is only 19 tts..........its the fight in the dog chaps
